As a University of Texas graduate, Derek has a degree in Advertising, a minor in Business Foundations, and a background in the Internet and computers dating back to high school. Post graduation, Derek's first job out of college was with a boutique advertising agency in Houston. This fiest job provided great experience and exposure to a wide range of marketing avenues from TV, to radio, print, and the web... which is where Derek gravitated.

That love of the internet and all of its future possiblities is what led Derek to persue a career related to the industry... and a job at Schipul.

Derek spent the fist two years of his time at Schipul as an Account Executive, manging projects and learning the how the technical side of things worked. With that knowledge, and an itch to get out from behind the desk to meet people, Derek moved to the Business Development department at Schipul where he has been since. So if you see him and his team out, say hi and feel free to ask him questions... though he'll probably take your picture.

Besides learning about and exploring new possibilities online, Derek tries his hand at photography and is a music fanatic (but hopefully not a music snob).
